Draw the Line

This project was completed in collaboration with Jesse Gates and Zirong Zhao.

This project focuses on the utilization of robots for a task that is typically outside of the robot's expertise. Students drew Rhino paths, and exported them to Stäubli robotic arms. The arms then translated the paths into drawings through marker strokes. Our goal was to investigate "stroke" as both a verb and a noun. Applying these ideas to a single composition, we attempted to recreate a landscape painting by employing both "stroke" as a typology of mark, and "stroke" as a material applied to a surface.
